NAIL CARE GUIDE

How to Remove Press-On Nails Safely

Never rip or pry off a press-on nail. Slow removal helps protect the natural nail underneath.

  1. Follow the product directions.Different adhesives and nail products may require different removal methods. Start with the instructions supplied with the nail set and glue.
  2. Shorten excessive length if appropriate. If the product directions allow, carefully reduce extra length so the nail is less likely to catch while soaking.
  3. Soak patiently.Warm soapy water and cuticle oil may help loosen some temporary applications. Glue-on sets may require an adhesive remover or acetone specifically recommended by the manufacturer.
  4. Check the edges gently.Use a manicure stick only when the edge has already loosened. Never force it underneath an attached nail.
  5. Repeat rather than pull.If the press-on resists, soak longer and follow the remover instructions again.
  6. Clean and moisturize. After removal, gently clear remaining residue as directed, wash your hands, and apply nail or cuticle oil.
